Dr. A. Arun, based in Vettuvenni, Marthandam, is a Consultant Physician with a special interest in Cardiology and more than 17 years' experience in Internal Medicine. He practises at Arun Heart Care Centre, and has also been an eminent Consultant Cardiologist at many hospitals in Marthandam and surrounding areas for the past 12 years.
After completing his MBBS in 1996, he was employed in government services from 1997 to 2005. He then moved to the PPK Hospital in Marthandam where he served as Chief Physician from 2005 to 2010. In 2011, he started his own Heart Foundation at Vettuvenni, Marthandam, where he practised until January 2014. Subsequently, in February 2014, he expanded and upgraded his services by launching a modern facility - the Arun Heart Care Centre - where he can be consulted currently.
Over the years, Dr. Arun has undergone many critical care training courses at different institutions, for treating patients with head injuries, respiratory failure, poisoning, etc., thereby gaining rich experience in his areas of specialisation. He is proficient in interventions such as ICD, plural tapping, ascitic tapping, bone marrow aspiration and all medically-related invasive and non-invasive procedures. He is also well-versed in central venous catheterisation.
Dr. Arun has diagnosed more than a thousand patients in the region with myocardial infarction (heart attack) and has treated them using non-interventional methods. He has performed thousands of intubations and artificial ventilations, thus saving the lives of many patients. Dr. Arun has considerable expertise in pre-operative assessment of fitness for surgery in patients referred to him by surgeons in the locality.
Dr. Arun is also known for his acumen in diagnosing rare diseases such as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), chylothorax TB, etc. To keep himself abreast of the latest, he regularly attends conferences and has won national and international awards for his presentations of papers in the field of acute care in many countries such as Malaysia, Austria, China, Australia, South Africa, South Korea and India.
